I was at court on 1/13/2010 and I wanted to take my personal use Glock 23 up to the range for a little shoot time (Police/Court in the same building)...Well, there is an on-going issue with my gun as well as the entire department's Glock 22. It will not cycle faithfully with an accessory light attached to the rail. This is an issue with both the Glock 22 and 23. (see this article by Streamlight -

Anyways, I was up at the range and the range officer received a call. He asked me to help him carry some boxes up from the front desk. We went down and grabbed four decent sized boxes and carried them back up to the range. He opened one up and there was a small black box with the words "GLOCK" across the front...I knew what it was because we knew that we were going to be issued new duty weapons soon.
The Generation 4 Glock 22 was inside the box...It is mostly standard Glock...Looks the same to those not used to carrying one. Well, the new Glock comes with two extra interchangeable back straps. The smallest one is already on the gun and you can choose two larger sizes. The biggest one fit me the best. There is a new and larger magazine catch. The recoil spring is of the dual recoil spring system and it is tight. The grip is the RTF grip. Other than that, not much seems different...I wish that I could have shot it but the range officer had more work to do with them before they could be shot. Shouldn't be too long now.
It is my hope that the issue with the tactical light is resolved with these new guns as Glock has promised. We were issued the Surefire X300 light along with a Safariland holster over a year ago. The problems popped up immediately and we were transitioned back to the old Alessi holsters and had to return the lights. It is not a problem with just our department, as the Streamlight article outlines. It only seems to be happening with the 40 cal Glocks though.
