No Pdogs around Las Cruces. We do have a few ground squirrels. Some people call the flicker tails. Small though about the size of a large mouse.

You got any kind of critters we can shoot from your back porch, Joe? I was hoping to sit out and have a cocktail or two while we smoked and joked and shot at some things around there. :sparklr:

Viz... if I could I'd be down in a heart beat !!

that 's almost like our woodchucks they are the worse critters and very annoying .. we've always got the 410 ready .damage to pine trees and cabin which equals = aim & shoot !!

HD ...keep that count going down !! you are ready to have fun!!!

TT, the problem with prairie dogs that these SW folks are hinting at is that they dig MANY holes, typically on pasture land and live in large colonies in an underground maze of tunnels and chambers. These holes, tunnels and chambers are perfect to have rattle snakes move in and live...and they have food right there to make them bigger too. The even worse problem than the snakes (if you ask anyone other than Viz, who hates snakes :cheekysmil) is that the livestock in those pastures will step into the holes and break their leg.

Those two reasons alone are why you see a lot of ranchers out West encouraging people to come out and shoot the p-dogs. It's kind of like playing "Whack-a-mole" with a gun. :sparklr:

Viz I'm cool with all the talk !! I had to tell ya about our woodchucks they are critters of great damage .. they have already chewed the huge top of a pine tree and to have it come down on the storage shed.. :bang:
then they chewed the wiring lights on the trailer we haul with ..
along with the treated boards.. :bang: along with the cabin underneath wood..
the cerasole we use to ttreat the wood ..are suppose to keep them away ..LOL.. it's the UP NORTH CRITTERS OF HABIT ..
410 is always with us ..

if the wood chucks are like the pdogs I'd be out there with a shotgun getting rid of them as I can ..

thanks for the information ..I'll be sure to remember them Pdogs in my visit to your state !!

keep them guns loaded .. they are a pain in the butt alright ..

TT
