My buddy called me yesterday and wants to go squirrel hunting in Missouri in the middle of December. He heard that squirrel hunting was outstanding in The Mark Twain National Forest. There are some squirrels here in east Texas this year but not a bumper crop. We hear that there are so many hardwoods up there that the squirrels are everywhere.
We will be taking his 3 dogs which are really good squirrel dogs. I have not hunted over them yet but if he says they are good you can bet they are. His old dog, Rose, is absolutely the very best squirrel dog I have ever seen in my life. He has a Mullins Fiest that he killed a bunch of squirrels over last year.
Does anybody know anything about this place--where to hunt, where to stay, ect.?
